Marijuana Treatment Programs
Schick Shadel marijuana treatment program is for those dependent on smoking or ingesting marijuana. Addiction to marijuana is an increasing problem; the marijuana of today is many times more potent than that available in previous decades.
Our Marijuana treatment program is based on over 75 years of research from our successful alcohol treatment program. Schick Shadel research has shown that addiction is a neurological disease that requires medical treatment. Our marijuana treatment program addresses the medical causes of addiction, to remove cravings and preoccupation with the drug.
Schick Shadel Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced, professional physicians, nurses and counselors. Our marijuana treatment program provides medical treatment and addiction counseling simultaneously, to address all of the reasons for marijuana use. During treatment, our patients receive both individual and group counseling. The marijuana treatment program can be completed discreetly, with just a 10-day hospital stay and two, two-day booster visits.

Discharge Planning
Each treatment plan contains steps to encourage recovery after discharge. Counseling for discharge planning helps our patients refrain from using drugs, while Counter Conditioning allows them to avoid marijuana use. Our patients learn to focus on true friends, to use people for support when experiencing negative feelings and to avoid people, places and activities that were strongly associated with their addiction.
Schick Shadel provides follow-up care after discharge from the marijuana treatment program. Our caring staff contacts patients regularly and encourage them to maintain a drug-free lifestyle. After hospital treatment, patients can contact a counselor anytime it's necessary.
Reinforcement at 30 and 90-day intervals
Following the 10-day inpatient aversion conditioning, patients will typically return at 30 and 90 days to Schick Shadel Hospital for two, two-day reinforcement sessions. During these follow-up aversion conditioning reinforcements, rehabilitation interviews are conducted and the continuing care plan is updated. Reinforcement is an important part of maintaining a clean lifestyle.

Continuing Care Program
Counter Conditioning, combined with our Continuing Care Program, helps Schick Shadel patients create a plan for a successful life without marijuana. Our professional counselors work with our patients to help them change their lifestyle and solve problems. The continuing care program helps patients build open, honest relationships with the people they love. Our goal is to help patients change their lifestyle and guide them toward personal growth and non-chemical rewards. Patients receive support through both their continuing care plan and the Schick Shadel marijuana treatment program. Intensive educational meetings are available for the patients and family members.
